Joana Lazarova

Joana Lazarova works at the intersection of architectural representation, strategic development, and editorial practice. She collaborates closely with architectural practices, designers, and cultural institutions, shaping the communication of complex building projects.

She specializes in guiding architectural teams through competitions and strategic opportunities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and supporting projects from early concept to final delivery. She is currently overseeing several projects with community, cultural, and social impact, ranging from major cultural institutions to locally driven initiatives, including Centre Pompidou 2030 – a cultural renovation led by Moreau Kusunoki; Backyard Community Club – a sports facility supporting the development of young athletes in Accra, designed by DeRoche Projects; and Star Homes – a development of 110 houses designed to combat the spread of malaria in Tanzania.

Joana is actively engaged in the architecture community, having served as the International Press Officer for Terra, the 6th Lisbon Architecture Triennale, and a fellow of Domaine du Boisbuchet. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally, and her writing has appeared in publications such as Mark, Wallpaper*, The Architectural Review, and A’A’, among others.
She is a recipient of the Helmut Richter‑Gedächtnispreis for the Haduwa Arts & Culture Institute in Ghana, designed by [a]FA foreign affairs, a transdisciplinary research and design lab at the Institute of Architecture, University of Applied Arts Vienna.
